Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiao-Qing-Long Decoction (also known as Xiaoqinglong decoction, Xiao-Qing-Long-Tang, or Sho-seiryu-to) is a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula first recorded in the ancient text *Treatise on Febrile Diseases* (Shanghan Lun). It comprises eight herbal ingredients: Ephedra herb (*Ephedrae Herba*), Cassia twig (*Cinnamomi Ramulus*), white peony root (*Paeoniae Radix Alba*), dried ginger (*Zingiberis Rhizoma*), Asarum (*Asari Radix et Rhizoma*), honey-fried licorice root (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), Schisandra fruit (*Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus*), and Pinellia tuber (*Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparata*). Xiao-Qing-Long Decoction is widely used to treat respiratory and allergic disorders, including asthma, refractory asthma, allergic rhinitis, and acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). It exerts anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and immunomodulatory effects, including the regulation of Th1/Th2 balance, reduction of IgE and pro-inflammatory cytokines (such as IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, and TNF-α), and inhibition of the IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway.
