Overview

Xiao Zheng Wan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily indicated for the treatment of gynecological conditions associated with blood stasis and Qi stagnation, including uterine fibroids (hysteromyoma), ovarian cysts, and endometriosis. The formula is composed of several botanical ingredients, most notably *Sparganium stoloniferum* (San Leng) and *Curcuma zedoaria* (E Zhu), which are traditionally recognized for their ability to break up blood stasis and resolve masses. Modern pharmacological studies suggest that Xiao Zheng Wan exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating the estrogen and progesterone receptor pathways, inhibiting the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and promoting apoptosis in fibroid cells. It is widely marketed in China as a non-surgical intervention for reducing the size of pelvic masses and alleviating associated symptoms such as abdominal pain and menstrual irregularities.
