Overview
Xiaoer Chaigui antipyretic granules (also known as Xiaoer Chaigui Tuire Keli) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine (TCPM) widely used in pediatrics for the treatment of fever, upper respiratory tract infections, influenza, and common colds. The formulation is derived from the classic prescriptions 'Guizhi Gegen Tang' and 'Xiaochaihu Tang' from the Treatise on Cold Damage (Shanghan Lun). It consists of seven herbal ingredients: Bupleurum root (Chaihu), Cassia twig (Guizhi), Kudzuvine root (Gegen), Common ducksmeat herb (Fuping), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), White Peony Root (Baishao), and Cicada Slough (Chantui). It functions to promote sweating, release the exterior, clear the interior, and reduce fever. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was evaluated in clinical trials and recommended in guidelines for the management of pediatric COVID-19.
