Xiaoer Chaigui Tuire Koufuye, also known as Xiaoer Chaigui antipyretic oral liquid, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation used for pediatric patients. [11] Its primary indication is for fever resulting from an external contraction, with symptoms including fever, headache, body aches, runny nose, thirst, and red throat. [3] The formulation is based on classic TCM prescriptions and is designed to induce sweating to relieve the exterior syndrome while also clearing internal heat. [5, 13] It is composed of several herbs, including Bupleurum (Chai Hu), Cassia Twig (Gui Zhi), Kudzu Root (Ge Gen), and others. [2, 4] The medicine is manufactured by companies such as Jilin Aodong Yanbian Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. [2, 9] While it has antipyretic effects, particularly for low-grade fevers, it is not considered a direct substitute for Western antipyretic drugs like ibuprofen or acetaminophen, especially in cases of high fever (above 38.5°C).
