Overview

Xiaojidaozhi decoction is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formula first documented in the 13th-century medical text *Pi Wei Lun* (Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach) by Li Dongyuan. It is composed of twelve herbs and is traditionally used to treat childhood functional constipation by improving gastric and splenic function, eliminating food stagnation, and clearing pathological heat accumulation. The decoction is thought to increase intestinal fluid and facilitate gastrointestinal motility. It has been evaluated in clinical trials, such as those sponsored by Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, to assess its efficacy and safety compared to standard treatments like polyethylene glycol (PEG) 3350.
