Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XiaoJiYin + erlotinib is a combination therapy comprising the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula XiaoJiYin and the small-molecule EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor erlotinib. Developed and studied by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this combination is primarily targeted at patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly those harboring EGFR mutations. XiaoJiYin is a complex herbal decoction intended to work synergistically with erlotinib to improve clinical outcomes, potentially by inhibiting tumor growth through multiple pathways, modulating the immune response, and delaying the onset of resistance to targeted therapy. Erlotinib acts by competitively inhibiting the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) binding site of the EGFR tyrosine kinase, thereby blocking downstream signaling pathways such as PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK that drive cell proliferation and survival.
