Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaopi Formula is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound officially approved by the National Medical Products Administration of China for the treatment of mammary hyperplasia and prescribed to patients at high risk for breast cancer. It has demonstrated clinical efficacy in reducing symptoms such as atypical hyperplasia, mastalgia, and lump growth. Mechanistically, Xiaopi Formula exerts anti-breast cancer effects primarily through immunomodulation—specifically by inhibiting tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) M2 polarization and suppressing C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CXCL1) expression and secretion. This leads to reduced self-renewal of breast cancer stem cells (CSCs), inhibition of tumor growth, and decreased metastasis potential. Additionally, it enhances chemosensitivity in breast cancer cells by inhibiting CXCL1/HMGB1-mediated autophagy pathways. Clinical studies have shown that it can lower serum CXCL1 levels while improving psychological well-being and quality of life in patients with triple-negative breast cancer[1][2][3][7].
