Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaopi Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of breast hyperplasia (mammary dysplasia) and is frequently utilized as an adjuvant therapy in patients with breast cancer to prevent recurrence and manage symptoms. The formulation is designed to "soothe the liver, resolve phlegm, and dissipate nodules," addressing the TCM etiology of breast masses. Pharmacological studies indicate that Xiaopi Granule exerts its therapeutic effects by regulating the endocrine system, specifically modulating estrogen and progesterone receptor expression, and inhibiting the proliferation of mammary epithelial cells. Furthermore, research suggests it may interfere with the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, which is often overactive in breast cancer, thereby promoting apoptosis and inhibiting tumor cell migration. It is typically administered orally as a granule dissolved in water.
