Overview
Xiaoshuanchangrong (XSCR) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) capsule formulation developed for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It is composed of seven herbal ingredients: Huangqi (Astragalus), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum wallichii), Chishao (Red Peony), Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Dilong (Earthworm), Taoren (Peach kernel), and Honghua (Safflower). The formulation is designed to improve overall recovery and motor function, including muscle strength and coordination, following a stroke. Clinical evaluation has reached Phase 3 trials, primarily sponsored by Fudan University and other Shanghai-based institutions. As a complex TCM compound, its specific biological targets are not uniquely defined in available literature, but it is generally intended to promote blood circulation and provide neuroprotection.
