Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaoyao Granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) manufactured by Zhejiang Tianyitang Pharmaceutical, based on the classic "Xiaoyao San" formula. It is an oral herbal formulation primarily indicated for the treatment of liver qi stagnation, which manifests clinically as mood disorders (including depression and anxiety), psychosomatic complaints, and various gynecological symptoms such as irregular menstruation and breast distension. The preparation typically consists of eight botanical ingredients: *Radix Bupleuri* (Chaihu), *Radix Angelicae Sinensis* (Danggui), *Radix Paeoniae Alba* (Baishao), *Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae* (Baizhu), *Poria* (Fuling), *Radix Glycyrrhizae* (Gancao), *Herba Menthae* (Bohe), and *Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens* (Shengjiang). Pharmacologically, it is thought to exert therapeutic effects by regulating the neuroendocrine-immune system and modulating neurotransmitter levels, although it functions as a multi-target mixture rather than through a single molecular mechanism.
