Overview
Xiaoyao Heji is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound oral liquid formulation. Its main ingredients include Bupleurum (柴胡), Angelica sinensis (当归), Paeonia lactiflora (白芍), Atractylodes macrocephala (白术), Poria cocos (茯苓), Glycyrrhiza uralensis processed with honey (炙甘草), Mentha haplocalyx (薄荷), and fresh ginger (生姜)[1][5]. The formula is designed to "soothe the liver, strengthen the spleen, nourish blood, and regulate menstruation." It is primarily indicated for symptoms associated with liver qi stagnation such as irregular menstruation, chest/flank distension or pain, dizziness, loss of appetite, and related gynecological or digestive complaints[5][8]. The mechanism of action is based on TCM theory rather than modern molecular targets; it acts through multi-component herbal synergy to modulate physiological functions.
