Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaoyao powder (also known as Xiaoyao San) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula traditionally used to soothe the liver, strengthen the spleen, and nourish the blood. In the context of chronic hepatitis B, it is being evaluated by Xi'an Traditional Medicine Hospital as a standard treatment for patients exhibiting the TCM syndrome of stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency. The formula is typically composed of eight herbs, including Bupleurum chinense and Angelica sinensis, and is thought to exert its therapeutic effects through anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and immune-modulating mechanisms. It is often administered in combination with standard-of-care antiviral therapies like Entecavir or Tenofovir to improve clinical outcomes and liver function markers.
