Overview
Xiaoyao Tablets is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Zhejiang Kangde Pharmaceutical. It is a modern tablet form of the classic "Xiaoyao San" formula, which has been used for centuries in TCM to soothe the liver, strengthen the spleen, and nourish the blood. The formula typically consists of eight herbal ingredients: *Bupleurum chinense*, *Angelica sinensis*, *Paeonia lactiflora*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Poria cocos*, *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*, *Mentha haplocalyx*, and *Zingiber officinale*. It is primarily indicated for conditions associated with Liver Qi stagnation and Spleen deficiency, such as depression, anxiety, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), irregular menstruation, and hypochondriac pain. The therapeutic effect is achieved through the synergistic action of its botanical constituents, which are thought to modulate the neuroendocrine system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.
