Xiaoyin Anshen Decoction

Xiaoyin Anshen Decoction (also known as the Xiaoyin-Anshen formula or XYAS) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal combination developed for the treatment of psoriasis complicated by sleep disturbances. The formulation was created by Professor Xingwu Duan and is composed of two main components: Liangxue-Jiedu (LXJD) and Qingxin-Anshen (QXAS). LXJD includes ingredients such as Buffalo Horn Extract, while QXAS contains herbs like Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, Radix Salviae, Polygala tenuifolia Willd., and Coptidis Rhizoma. These herbs are selected for their properties in cooling and detoxifying blood, calming the mind, clearing the heart, improving insomnia symptoms, regulating circadian rhythm and melatonin synthesis, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Mechanistically, studies suggest that this decoction modulates immune responses relevant to psoriasis by decreasing Th17-related cytokines (IL-23, IL-22, IL-17), balancing Th17/Treg cells in peripheral blood of patients with psoriasis[1][3]. It also appears to regulate melatonin levels and antioxidant enzymes while reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines[1][3].
