Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaoying Paste (消瘿贴) is a topical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital specifically for the treatment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. The paste is applied externally to the skin overlying the thyroid gland. According to TCM principles, the therapy works by promoting the local circulation of 'Qi' and 'blood,' softening hardness, and resolving the phlegm-stagnation that characterizes goiter (瘿病). In clinical observation studies, it is investigated for its ability to reduce thyroid volume and lower levels of thyroid autoantibodies, such as thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb), thereby addressing the underlying autoimmune inflammation of the thyroid gland.
