Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiaozheng Qufeng is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by Dongzhimen Hospital, affiliated with the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, specifically for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of eliminating stasis and dispelling wind to address the pathogenesis of kidney collateral damage. It typically comprises several herbal components, including *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Hirudo* (leech), and *Periostracum Cicadae*. Xiaozheng Qufeng exerts its therapeutic effects by protecting podocytes, reducing proteinuria, and slowing the progression of renal fibrosis. Its molecular mechanisms involve the inhibition of the TGF-β1/Smad and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways, as well as the suppression of inflammatory responses mediated by NF-κB. It is primarily utilized as an in-hospital preparation for patients with DKD to improve renal function and delay disease progression.
