Overview
**Xiatianwu Injection** is a Chinese prescription botanical injection prepared as a sterile aqueous extract of *Corydalis decumbens* rhizome, known in Chinese medicine as Xia Tian Wu. It is administered intramuscularly and is marketed in China for promoting circulation and relieving pain, including hypertensive hemiplegia, poliomyelitis sequelae, sciatica, rheumatic joint pain, and traumatic injury. The product is a chemically complex botanical preparation rather than isolated protopine; the labeled 2 mL presentation contains 0.4 mg protopine, while pharmacokinetic analyses have identified numerous alkaloids, including protopine, tetrahydropalmatine, and bicuculline.
