Overview
Xiehuangjiejing (XHJJ) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulated as granules for oral administration. It is being investigated for the treatment of cough variant asthma (CVA) in children. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter clinical trial was conducted to evaluate its effectiveness and safety in children aged 4 to 7. The formulation's ingredients include ephedra (mahuang), scorpio (quan xie), Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (kusheng), Semen Armeniacae Amarum (xingren), Ginkgo biloba Linn (baiguo), and Radix Glycyrrhizae (gancao). According to traditional Chinese medicine, it is intended to warm the lungs, dispel wind, relieve coughing, and reduce sputum production. Studies suggest it may reduce inflammatory cells and cytokines like TNF, IL-6, and IL-1.
