Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xifei Ning (矽肺宁) is an approved Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Hangzhou Huqingyutang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of silicosis and pneumoconiosis. The formulation consists of three primary active components: *Polygonum cuspidatum* (Hu Zhang), Bergenin (Yan Bai Cai Su), and *Glechoma longituba* (Lian Qian Cao). It is indicated for relieving symptoms such as cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath associated with occupational lung diseases and chronic bronchitis. Mechanistically, the drug is described in TCM terms as promoting blood circulation, dispersing nodules, and resolving phlegm. Preclinical evidence suggests it inhibits the progression of experimental silicosis, protects red blood cell membranes, and increases ATP levels in lung macrophages, contributing to its anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects.
