Xihuang Capsule

Xihuang Capsule is an oral traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation used as an adjunctive therapy for various types of cancer. It originated from a classic formula known as Xihuang Wan (Pill) from the Qing dynasty. [2, 9] The capsule form is considered a modern version with potentially better absorption. [9] It is composed of four main ingredients: Calculus bovis (cattle bezoar), Moschus (musk), Myrrh, and Olibanum (frankincense). [2, 4] In TCM theory, its functions are to clear heat, resolve toxicity, reduce swelling, and invigorate blood to dissipate nodules. [4] Modern research and clinical trials are investigating its efficacy in combination with conventional cancer treatments like chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Studies suggest it possesses multiple anti-tumor properties, including inhibiting cancer cell proliferation and angiogenesis, inducing apoptosis, and modulating the tumor immune microenvironment. [2] It is used for various cancers, including breast, liver, lung, and prostate cancer. [1, 2, 18]
