Drug intelligence / Profile preview
xijiao dihuang decoction + erzhi pill is a combination of two traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulas used primarily in China for the treatment of hematological disorders. Xijiao Dihuang Decoction (comprising Cornu Bubali, Rehmannia glutinosa, Paeonia suffruticosa, and Paeonia lactiflora) is traditionally indicated for clearing heat and cooling the blood, while Erzhi Pill (comprising Ligustrum lucidum and Eclipta prostrata) is used to nourish the liver and kidney yin. This specific combination has been investigated by the San Huan Cancer Hospital in Beijing for its efficacy in managing thrombocytopenia, particularly chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT) in patients with solid tumors and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). The therapeutic effect is attributed to its ability to modulate the immune system, reduce platelet destruction, and promote bone marrow recovery and megakaryocyte maturation.
