Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xilatril is a pharmaceutical drug containing terbinafine, an antifungal agent. It is administered orally and works by inhibiting squalene epoxidase, an enzyme essential for ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes. This action leads to a depletion of ergosterol and an accumulation of squalene, both of which are toxic to fungi, ultimately resulting in fungal cell death. Xilatril is manufactured by Laboratorios Dermatológicos Darier and is used to treat various fungal infections, particularly those affecting the skin, hair, and nails.
