Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xilda-M100 is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by Dios Lifesciences for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains two active ingredients: vildagliptin (50 mg) and metformin hydrochloride (1000 mg), formulated as a sustained-release tablet. Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, which in turn stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release from the pancreas. Metformin is a biguanide that improves glycemic control by reducing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and enhancing peripheral insulin sensitivity. This combination is typically prescribed when diet, exercise, and monotherapy with either agent are insufficient to achieve target blood sugar levels.
