Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiloial is an ophthalmic lubricant solution developed and marketed by Farmigea for the treatment of dry eye and the protection of the ocular surface. The formulation is a combination of sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) and TS-polysaccharide (TSP), a natural substance extracted from the seeds of the tamarind tree (*Tamarindus Indica*). Xiloial works through the synergistic action of its components: sodium hyaluronate provides mucomimetic and lubricating properties that stabilize the tear film, while TS-polysaccharide forms a protective film on the ocular surface to enhance hydration and shield the corneal and conjunctival epithelia. It is indicated for the relief of symptoms such as burning, redness, and irritation caused by environmental factors (wind, sun, smoke), visual stress (computer use), or mechanical factors (contact lens wear, post-eye surgery). Classified as a CE Class IIb medical device, Xiloial is available in multiple formats, including preservative-free (Xiloial Zero, Xiloial Mono) and high-concentration (Xiloial Forte) versions.
