Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xilonibsa is a local dental anesthetic product line developed and manufactured by Laboratorios Inibsa. Its primary formulation, Xilonibsa 2%, is an injectable solution combining lidocaine hydrochloride (an amide-type local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a sympathomimetic vasoconstrictor). Lidocaine acts by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes, preventing the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses to provide rapid and effective local anesthesia. Epinephrine acts as an agonist on alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors, inducing local vasoconstriction that reduces bleeding at the surgical site and prolongs the duration of lidocaine's anesthetic effect. Xilonibsa is widely used in dental clinics for infiltration and nerve blockade anesthesia during various dental and minor surgical procedures. It is also available as a 10% topical spray formulation containing lidocaine alone for surface mucosal anesthesia.
