Ximingting is a phytoestrogen-based medication, primarily composed of soy isoflavones, developed by Peking Union Medical College Hospital for the management of menopausal syndrome. It serves as a non-hormonal alternative to traditional hormone replacement therapy (HRT), aimed at alleviating vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, as well as psychological symptoms associated with menopause. The active constituents, including genistein and daidzein, act as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs). They exhibit a preferential binding affinity for estrogen receptor beta (ER-β) over estrogen receptor alpha (ER-α), which is thought to provide therapeutic benefits for menopausal symptoms and bone health while maintaining a favorable safety profile regarding estrogen-sensitive tissues like the breast and endometrium.
