Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xin Compound Aloe Capsules (新复方芦荟胶囊) is an approved traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Hebei Wanbang Fu Lin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of constipation. The formulation is composed of three herbal ingredients: *Aloe barbadensis* Mill. (aloe), Indigo Naturalis, and Amber. It is designed to clear away heat and moisten the intestines, which clinically manifests as increased defecation frequency and enhanced small bowel propulsion. The product has a long history, originally developed in 1982 as 'Tongbianling Capsule' and later renamed 'Compound Aloe Capsule' in 1994. The current 'New' (Xin) formulation was created after removing cinnabar, a toxic mercury-containing ingredient, from the original prescription to improve safety. It is administered orally as a capsule.
