Overview

Xin Kai Ku Jiang formula granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation developed by Beijing Xuanwu Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital. The formula is based on the 'Xin Kai Ku Jiang' (Acrid-Opening and Bitter-Descending) therapeutic principle, a classical TCM approach used to treat gastrointestinal disharmony by combining acrid herbs (to disperse stagnation) and bitter herbs (to direct qi downward). It is currently being evaluated in a randomized controlled trial for the treatment of non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (NERD) accompanied by mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The treatment aims to address both the physical symptoms of reflux and the associated psychological distress, potentially through modulation of the brain-gut axis.
