Overview

Xin Mai Jia (XMJ) is a traditional Chinese medicinal compound formulation developed to prevent and treat atherosclerosis and related cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The formulation contains a combination of functional red kojic rice powder, kudzu flavonoid powder, soybean isoflavone powder, bamboo leaf flavone powder, resveratrol powder, hawthorn powder, Gastrodia powder, Auricularia auricula powder, hippocampus powder, astaxanthin powder, menthol powder, and resistant starch. Its primary mechanism involves increasing endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) activity, improving endothelial function, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, and inhibiting smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration. Studies show that XMJ improves blood lipids, vascular function, and prevents endothelial dysfunction, presumably via recoupling eNOS and reducing reactive oxygen species. XMJ is available as a capsule and has been approved by the State Food and Drug Administration of China since 2010 for atherosclerosis management.
