Overview

Xin Yin (also known as Xin Yin Granule) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF). Based on the therapeutic principle of warming Yang, replenishing Qi, and promoting diuresis to resolve fluid retention (Yin), the formula typically includes herbs such as Astragalus membranaceus and Descurainia sophia. It is primarily used to improve cardiac function, alleviate edema, and enhance the quality of life in patients with CHF. Mechanistically, Xin Yin has been shown to inhibit myocardial fibrosis and ventricular remodeling by modulating the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway and regulating the expression of aquaporins (AQP1 and AQP2) to manage fluid balance. It also demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects and helps regulate the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS).
