Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xingbei Zhike Granules is a Chinese patent medicine formulated as granules for oral administration. It is primarily used for the treatment of postinfectious cough (PIC), a common symptom following respiratory tract infections. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Xingbei Zhike Granules are effective in reducing the severity and duration of cough, lowering sputum viscosity, and improving recovery rates in patients with PIC[1][2]. The formulation contains multiple herbal ingredients including Ephedrae Herba (honey-processed), Armeniacae Semen Amarum, Platycodonis Radix, Peucedani Radix, Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, Stemonae Radix, Glehniae Radix, Oroxyli Semen, and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma[6]. Mechanistic studies suggest that its antitussive effects may be mediated by inhibition of mast cell degranulation and modulation of neurogenic inflammation via downregulation of the Tryptase/PAR2/PKC/TRPV1 pathway[5]. It also appears to help restore homeostasis in respiratory bacterial microbiota.
