Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xingliptin (CX-1003) is an orally active, selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor being developed by Chenxin Pharmaceutical for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). As a member of the gliptin class of antidiabetic agents, it functions by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which is responsible for the rapid degradation of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By preventing the breakdown of these hormones, xingliptin enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppresses glucagon release from alpha cells, thereby improving glycemic control and reducing fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. The drug is currently undergoing late-stage clinical trials in China.
