Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xingnao Jieyu is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound preparation used primarily for the treatment of post-stroke depression. It is formulated as either a capsule or decoction and consists of multiple herbal ingredients including Rhizoma Acori Talarinowii, Radix Polygalae, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix Curcumae, and Radix Bupleuri[7]. The drug has demonstrated efficacy in alleviating depressive symptoms and neurological impairments associated with post-stroke depression. Mechanistically, it acts through several pathways: - Upregulation of synaptotagmin expression in the hippocampus to promote neurotransmitter release and synaptic function[2][5]. - Enhancement of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression via regulation of the BDNF/ERK/CREB signaling pathway[4][5]. - Reduction of neuroinflammation by modulating the nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) pathway and restoring anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-10[6]. Clinical studies indicate that its therapeutic effects are comparable to those of fluoxetine for post-stroke depression but with minimal side effects[1][2][3]. The product is developed within academic institutions specializing in traditional Chinese medicine.
