Overview
Xingnao Kukeya is a Chinese patent medicine, specifically a Uyghur medicinal formulation, developed and manufactured by Xinjiang Huakang Pharmaceutical. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of migraine, including both migraine with aura and migraine without aura. The drug is formulated as a capsule containing an extract of the herb Kukeya (often identified as *Cichorium intybus* or a related species in the Xinjiang region). Pharmacologically, Xingnao Kukeya is believed to exert its therapeutic effects by modulating the levels of neurotransmitters and vasoactive peptides, such as serotonin (5-HT), endothelin-1 (ET-1), and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which are central to migraine pathophysiology. In traditional medicinal terms, it is used to clear heat, resolve phlegm, and extinguish "wind" to relieve pain. Clinical use in China focuses on reducing the frequency, duration, and intensity of migraine headaches.
