Overview
Xingqi Daozhi Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Shanghai Mental Health Center for the treatment of antipsychotic-induced constipation, particularly in patients with schizophrenia exhibiting a 'qi stagnation' pattern. The decoction is a multi-herb combination consisting of *Cistanche deserticola* (30 g), *Magnolia officinalis* (15 g), *Raphanus sativus* seed (15 g), and *Areca catechu* pericarp (10 g). It is formulated as oral granules. The formula is designed to promote gastrointestinal motility and resolve abdominal discomfort by addressing the TCM diagnostic pattern of stagnation. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled exploratory trial to assess its efficacy in improving complete spontaneous bowel movements and constipation-related quality of life.
