Overview

Xingqin Ganke Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically at Longhua Hospital. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of post-infectious cough (PIC), a persistent cough that remains after a respiratory tract infection has cleared. The formula is designed based on TCM principles to clear lung heat, transform phlegm, and suppress cough, specifically targeting the "wind-heat invading the lungs" or "phlegm-heat" patterns. The granules contain several herbal components, including *Prunus armeniaca* (Xingren) and *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin). Pharmacologically, the drug is thought to reduce airway hyperresponsiveness and inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby alleviating the cough reflex and respiratory inflammation. It has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China.
