Xingqinganke granule

Xingqinganke granule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of post-infectious cough (PIC), also known as post-cold cough, which is characterized by a persistent dry cough following an acute respiratory tract infection. The formulation is designed based on TCM principles to clear lung heat, resolve phlegm, and suppress cough. Pharmacological studies suggest that Xingqinganke granule exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating airway inflammation and reducing cough sensitivity. Specifically, it has been shown to decrease the levels of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-8 (IL-8) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), as well as neurogenic mediators like substance P in the respiratory tract. It has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China, demonstrating efficacy in improving cough symptoms and quality of life in patients with phlegm-heat syndrome.
