Overview

Xingshen Jieyu granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed for the treatment of post-stroke depression (PSD). Developed by the Seventh People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the granules are designed to alleviate depressive symptoms, improve neurological function, and enhance functional outcomes in patients following a stroke. The formulation is hypothesized to exert its therapeutic effects by modulating the expression of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) and influencing resting-state functional connectivity within the brain, as measured by fMRI. In clinical research, it is evaluated as both a monotherapy and as an adjunctive treatment alongside selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as escitalopram.
