Xingwu Chengqi Granules (醒悟承气颗粒) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Affiliated Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Southwest Medical University. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute stroke, including both cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction, particularly in patients presenting with phlegm-heat blocking the orifices or excessive heat in the gallbladder and stomach patterns. The formula is an adaptation of the classical Da Chengqi Tang (Major Order the Qi Decoction), typically containing ingredients such as Rhubarb (Rheum palmatum), Mirabilite (Sodium sulfate), Magnolia officinalis, Citrus aurantium, Acorus tatarinowii, and Curcuma aromatica. Its mechanism of action involves clearing heat, purging fire, resolving phlegm, and promoting consciousness (awakening the brain). It is clinically used to reduce cerebral edema, improve neurological function, and lower intracranial pressure in the acute phase of stroke.
