Overview

Xininurad (XNW3009) is an orally administered small molecule drug that acts as a selective inhibitor of the human urate transporter 1 (URAT1, also known as SLC22A12 protein). By inhibiting URAT1 in the kidneys, xininurad increases renal excretion of uric acid and lowers serum uric acid levels. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of hyperuricaemia and gout. The drug was originally developed by Sinovent and is currently being advanced by Evopoint Biosciences. Clinical trials have reached Phase II for gout and Phase III for hyperuricaemia.
