Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xinkaikujiang granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Wangjing Hospital. It is specifically designed for the treatment of refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease (rGERD), a condition where symptoms persist despite standard proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy. The formulation is based on the 'Xinkaikujiang' (pungent opening and bitter descending) therapeutic principle, which involves using pungent herbs to disperse stagnation and bitter herbs to direct rebellious Qi downward. This approach is intended to harmonize the stomach, balance cold and heat complexes, and improve esophageal motility. In clinical research, it has been evaluated as a combination therapy with acupoint thread-embedding to provide a multi-targeted approach to rGERD management.
