Overview
Xinkeshu is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound preparation widely used in China for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary heart disease (CHD) and angina pectoris. It is composed of five herbal ingredients: *Crataegus pinnatifida* (Hawthorn), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), *Pueraria lobata* (Kudzu), *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi), and *Dalbergia odorifera* (Jiangxiang). The formulation is recognized for its dual-effect in psychocardiology, addressing both the physiological symptoms of myocardial ischemia and the psychological symptoms of anxiety and depression often associated with heart disease. Its mechanisms include improving coronary blood flow, protecting the vascular endothelium, inhibiting platelet aggregation, and regulating the expression of eNOS and VCAM-1.
