Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xinmai Capsule is a modernized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by researchers at China Pharmaceutical University, specifically the team led by Professor Li Yunman. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of dyslipidemia (hyperlipidemia) and cardiovascular conditions such as coronary heart disease and angina pectoris. The formulation is a standardized combination of active herbal fractions, typically including total flavonoids from *Pueraria lobata* (Kudzu), total saponins from *Panax notoginseng*, and total phenolics from *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen). Mechanistically, Xinmai Capsule exerts its therapeutic effects by regulating lipid metabolism—lowering total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL-C while increasing HDL-C—and providing antioxidant protection to the vascular endothelium. It also improves microcirculation and has been shown to inhibit the progression of atherosclerosis in clinical and preclinical models.
