Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xinsheng Maisan Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily used for the treatment of viral myocarditis and chronic heart failure. It is a modification of the classic Shengmai San formula, typically composed of *Panax quinquefolius* (American ginseng), *Ophiopogon japonicus*, *Schisandra chinensis*, *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, and *Epimedium*. The formula is designed to replenish Qi, nourish Yin, and promote blood circulation. Research suggests it exerts cardioprotective effects by modulating inflammatory cytokines, reducing oxidative stress, and inhibiting cardiomyocyte apoptosis. It has been studied in clinical trials in China for its efficacy in improving cardiac function and reducing symptoms in patients with myocarditis.
