Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xinshenning Capsule (also referred to as Xinning Capsule in certain clinical contexts) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily used for the treatment of chronic insomnia and anxiety-related disorders. It is designed to nourish the heart and soothe the nerves (Yang Xin An Shen). The formulation typically consists of botanical extracts, including Ziziphi Spinosae Semen (Suan Zao Ren), Polygalae Radix (Yuan Zhi), and Poria (Fu Ling). These ingredients are traditionally recognized for their sedative and tranquilizing properties, which are thought to be mediated through the modulation of the GABAergic system, specifically by acting as positive allosteric modulators of the GABA-A receptor. Xinshenning Capsule has been evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials (e.g., ChiCTR2300068263) at the Shaanxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where it was studied as part of a sequential treatment regimen with Zaoren Dihuang Capsule for patients with chronic insomnia disorder.
