Overview

Xinshumu is a first-in-class, liver-targeted small molecule drug developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. It is the first Class 1 innovative drug approved in Shaanxi province, China, and represents a significant advancement in hepatitis B therapy. Xinshumu utilizes the HepDirect liver-targeted prodrug delivery system to concentrate its active metabolic components specifically in the liver, thereby enhancing efficacy and reducing systemic toxicity. Clinical data from Phase III trials demonstrate that Xinshumu offers robust antiviral efficacy with a superior safety profile compared to existing therapies, particularly benefiting patients with low viral loads. Its mechanism allows for improved durability of response over time relative to current standard-of-care treatments[1].
