Overview
Xinxuebao Capsules (新血宝胶囊) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation combined with ferrous sulfate, developed and manufactured by Chen Li Ji (Guangzhou Baiyunshan Chen Li Ji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.). Administered orally, it is specifically indicated for the treatment of iron-deficiency anemia, particularly cases caused by chronic blood loss (such as gastrointestinal or hemorrhoidal bleeding), excessive menstruation, pregnancy, or nutritional deficiencies. The formulation works by tonifying qi and blood and strengthening the spleen and stomach, utilizing a blend of herbs including Spatholobus suberectus, Astragalus, Chinese dates, Angelica sinensis, Atractylodes, and dried tangerine peel. The inclusion of ferrous sulfate provides a direct source of iron for hemoglobin synthesis. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, and black stools.
