Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xinyue Granule is a multi-component Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of depression and mild cognitive impairment (MCI), specifically targeting patients with the "Qi and Yin deficiency" syndrome. The formula is composed of several botanical ingredients, including *Panax quinquefolius* (American ginseng), *Ophiopogon japonicus*, *Schisandra chinensis*, *Hypericum perforatum* (St. John's Wort), and *Albizia julibrissin*. Mechanistically, Xinyue Granule is thought to exert its therapeutic effects by increasing the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, and regulating monoamine neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepinephrine. It is currently utilized as a registered hospital preparation in China and has been evaluated in several clinical trials for its efficacy in improving cognitive function and alleviating depressive symptoms.
