Overview
Xiongge Shujin Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine at Southern Medical University. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic insomnia and migraine without aura. The formula is composed of several herbal ingredients, notably *Ligusticum chuanxiong* and *Pueraria lobata* (from which the name "Xiongge" is derived). Pharmacologically, it is thought to work by improving cerebral blood circulation, modulating neurotransmitters such as serotonin (5-HT), and reducing levels of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which is a key mediator in migraine pathogenesis. In TCM theory, it functions to activate blood circulation, resolve stasis, and unblock the meridians to relieve pain and calm the mind.
