Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xiongshao Zhitong granules (also known as Xiongshao Zhitong Recipe or Xiongshao Zhitong Keli) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Guangdong Kaizhong Biotechnology for the treatment of migraine. The formulation consists of eight botanical drugs: *Conioselinum anthriscoides* ("Chuanxiong"), *Paeonia lactiflora*, *Angelica dahurica*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Brassica juncea*, *Smilax glabra*, *Beauveria bassiana*, and *Xanthium strumarium*. Xiongshao Zhitong granules exert anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by regulating transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1)-mediated NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation, suppressing neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression, and inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China for adults with migraine meeting the TCM syndrome pattern of wind-phlegm-blood stasis obstruction.
